I hate this because I have noooooooo idea what to expect! Like I know its not completely unrealistic to get in, I have no idea whats gonna happen because Barnard is really looking for specific people and hopefully I fit at least one of these profiles but idk!!
I really want to know when the result is gonna come. For the past years they always sent an email a few days before it came out? I’m so nervous and if anyone created a group chat on group me pleaseee add me!!
EXACTLY how i feel. it’s not COMPLETELY out of reach, but it’s far from guaranteed. just that weird in-between where i literally have no idea what will happen

So how many of you guys think emails with the release info are coming today? I really hope so because I can’t wait anymore lmaoo
So I did some sluething, because that’s a totally healthy way to cope with the anxiety leading up to this decision amiright… anyways here are the results:
A post was made to the barnard 2023 ed thread (last year’s thread) at 11:45 am on Friday 12/7/2018. This was 5 days before the decision day, Wednesday 12/12/18.
Barnard’s instagram didn’t post anything about decisions until the night before they were released which creates a 4 day gap between the email notif and social media notif. In conclusion if we stick to historics, use your email to constantly refesh. The instagram page wont update as instantly.
If we keep sticking to historics we’ll see that the previous two years have been released on a wednesday, which probably means it’ll be a wednesday this year too (also the CSS profile says a definite date of 12/15/19 for an award letter so it has to be before friday). HOWEVER, we’re long overdue for a “this is when decisions come out” email if it is going to be released on wednesday.
ANyways, we can expect an email between 9am-4pm , that’s the time that most of their offices are open.
Draw your own conclusions, but remember that at least we’re all in the same boat of uncertainty here.
The exact text of the email (sourced from a comment on last year’s thread) is :
We are happy that Barnard College emerged as your top choice and that you chose to submit an Early Decision application. In this day of immediate replies and automated responses, we appreciate your patience as you await our decision. We write to notify you that your decision will be available on the evening of Wednesday, December 12, 2018 (Eastern Time). You will receive an email with a link to your applicant portal that will allow you to view your decision.
Further, updates were posted at 6 pm last year if the 2023 ed thread is reliable (which for this it probably is, there were several “I just got it” type of comments from 5:59-6:02 pm.)
Ok, that looks like all for now. Hope this helped some, now lets all try to spend as much time off this God-forsaken site until decisions come out this is probably very bad for our mental health ahahaha.

Please don’t think of Barnard’s decision as a decision on YOUR personal “fit”. Keep in mind that are a few thousand women applying who truly would be a great fit, but there are only enough spots for 1/10th of all these equal-exceptional people.
So whatever the outcome will be for each of you - it’s not because any of YOU lacked anything and wouldn’t have been a success at Barnard and a great addition to the school! The reason is the accidental mix of whoever else applied this particular year, where somebody else might draw the lucky straw of having combined whatever number of factors; giving that person an ever-so-slight edge to fill a particular slot they were trying to fill for the class of 2024.
Given the “self-selection” of the caliber of candidates that had the confidence of applying in the first place, you can think of the admission process to highly-selective colleges as almost arbitrary, certainly subjective, and even more so when holistic factors are also thrown into the mix.
It’s not a reflection on you - but on the scarceness of available spots.
