It means exactly what they wrote.
They probably expect to admit another (few?) student(s) from the waitlist, and rather than lose time, they need to confirm continued interest and contact info via email first. This way, the students/parents can already mull over their response if/when the phone call comes.
For you it means that you are on a very short list of “potentials” - whether they actually need to call you could depend on how many people respond positively to today’s email, and even how many people they end up calling, possible prior to you.
update: they didn’t ask for availability in the email, but they asked me in the form - is this the same thing that happened for those who were admitted from the waitlist or am i just keeping my hopes up

i applied for financial aid but withdrew at the beginning of may to try and get off the waitlist more easily 
Hi all, I received the urgent reply email Friday morning and put my availability as the morning (before noon). I haven’t received a call or anything yet. Has anyone in the same wave heard anything?

Monday was a big holiday in the U.S., so they may not have made any calls over the long holiday weekend, including Monday.

I got the email with the form on Friday the 24th (due Tuesday the 28th) and just got the call today! They called me right at the time I filled out on the form. I know some people were wondering about when/if people would get calls after this “third wave” of emails.
