I’ve been hearing that columbia and barnard might be letting in more waitlist applicants this year too! i know 100% for a fact rice let in waitlists starting yday (and apparently rice is known for not being waitlist-friendly???) so I’m hoping columbia and barnard will start letting people in soon… hopefully even this weekend april 28th!

ahhh man i’m really hoping!!! it seems like last year some people on the 2027 WL thread were let off around april 28 so maybe we’ll start seeing some movement then, too, if not earlier! (imagine if we got some today omg PLEASEEE)

i hope so too!!! did any of u send in extra updates after ur first loci?? im scared i didnt do enough esp since decisions may come out soon…

no i only sent one loci and one LOR. I thought it would be unwise to bombard them with random updates so I just sent them one LOCI saying why I see myself as a fit and why Barnard is my top choice, but hopefully they aren’t particularly looking for numerous significant updates oops

do you think there’s a shot at people coming off today or this weekend? I think last year majority started coming out on/after May 28 but I didn’t do enough digging to see if there were any before then.

omg wait sorry i talk so much on this thread but i just went back in the 2027 WL thread and it looked like a few people got waitlist notifs on April 27…PLEASE CAN WE GET BLESSED TOMORROW OMG

oooh interesting… did it come as an email saying there’s an update in the portal?

It was an email that said urgent reply to confirm you still wanted a spot and then to set up a call! It was Thursday the 27th last year!!!

Hmm they may wait until Monday then since IDK if admissions office is open on weekends

The leader of the protests at Columbia is doing his best to help move the waitlist. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/26/nyregion/columbia-student-protest-zionism.html
That should scare off a few admitted students and/or their families.

Yeah…to be honest my family is feeling hesitant now with all of the protesting. It’s getting scary. I have so many reasons why I want to go to Barnard, though, so it’s a really tough situation…

End of semester is coming up. Somehow, I think all the sincerely dedicated humanitarian activists (cough, cough) will pack up, and head off to their summer internships and travel abroad in a few weeks, and find something else to get all worked up about in the fall.

Did it ever occur to you people that the world is bigger than your college education? That maybe some things are more important?

Hi there! I hear you and you make very valid points, but I respectfully ask that we keep this forum dedicated to waitlist activity. I, and many others, rely on this heavily for waitlist updates only. Thank you very much.

I just want to respond and clarify that I am absolutely not disregarding the actual depth of the situation…I’ve read back my replies within the thread and I regret some of my ignorant responses. I myself live in a city with numerous protests (that I’m sure somewhat mirror the protests at CU) and I understand fully that they are peaceful. The media just shows the extreme things they want to show…and unfortunately, I have some family members who only consume THAT information and therefore hesitate about attendance…which is extremely closeminded and ignorant of the situation as a whole–I get that. I am guilty of being sucked into my college process at moments, which I understand reflects my privilege of growing up in the US, however, I hope those moments do not reflect me as a whole.
