Barnard Waitlist 2028

@caidew
I understand. I apologize for any misunderstandings that arose. I only wanted to clarify that point, not dominate the thread with this topic.
@sukie
Of course, we have all made mistakes on such topics. I absolutely agree with you, and I’m sorry if I came off as aggressive. Hope we can all get into Barnard and attend our dream schools!

This is the last thing I’ll add so I don’t get too off of the main thread point but do not worry about coming off as aggressive, I understand your points fully and if I had read some of the responses (including a couple of mine) from an outside perspective I would have felt a similar way…again I’ve noticed myself getting too fixated on this waitlist which just comes off as ignorant…but that is far from an accurate representation of my background (& hopefully future)

I would like to remind people that A. there are rules of conduct that posters must follow, and B. There is a politics forum for all things political, and this thread is not part of that forum. If somebody wishes to post something that is political in nature, they are welcome to join that forum and post there.

I think they’re coming out today?? Last year, successful '27s got a call around 5pm EST. We got this!!!

I was thinking it’s a possibility yesterday & potentially today but I want to say that they were called/emailed on weekdays. So we may have to wait until tomorrow to potentially see any movement since I doubt the admissions office is open on weekends (but I could definitely be wrong).

Do you guys think there will be a lot of waitlist movement this year??

This is from the reddit thread on “barnard waitlist 2028” there so credit goes to @Embarrassed_Mobile27: “This is just me speculating, but signs might be pointing towards yes. I’ve heard of multiple people declining Barnard admission offers because there have been many cross admits (so they end up choosing another Ivy/T20) or due to recent protests…plus with FAFSA challenges and this being a really weird applicant year in general I know many people speculating a lot of waitlist movement at almost every school this round. But we’ll just have to wait and see…”

speaking of which… just curious but has anyone heard anything back yet? ik it’s a sunday but they did mention on their websites are they open on ‘select weekends’

nothing yet- PRAYING we hear back tomorrow or Tuesday.

any update guys??

How many LOCIs did you guys submit on the portal?

nope nothing yet. i’m also international so i wonder if they might get to domestic students first?

Guys I’m freaking out I want to get in so badly I ADORE Barnard. I don’t want to commit to another school!!!

UGH SAME!!! I haven’t heard of anyone getting off yet, though…but I did also hear that the first wave of waitlist admits were emailed/called at 5pm, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that we may get some movement later today.

has anyone heard anything?

nope nothing here yet

Okay so Barnard had 11,832 applicants this year and they said the acceptance rate was 7% (I’m getting this information from an article on the Barnard website). So that means that they accepted 828 students both ED and RD. Their yield is usually around 60% so that means less than 500 people will commit if their yield is the same as last year. Normally Barnard aims for a first year class of 650-800 students so that means they should be pulling a bunch from the waitlist. I’m not sure why they accepted so little this year. Either they are planning to take 150+ people from the waitlist or if they just want a way smaller class.

This is some great data thank you for sharing this with us. There’s a chance that the yield actually drops even lower this year, given all external & internal circumstances, so maybe it’ll be a lot more than expected. Although, I am curious if they have started pulling any yet, because last year and the previous year it seemed like they started pulling from the WL on April 27/28. But people got emails at very odd times (I noticed several at 3 AM), so I guess they may just be sending some out at random times over the next few weeks. Maybe there’s a chance they aren’t pulling anyone at all this year but I’m not sure why they’d do that if their class size is below normal size.

Yeah exactly. I’m also confused because from this data they should be pulling a lot of people but still no one… fingers crossed though :pray:t2::pray:t2::nazar_amulet::nazar_amulet:

it’s okay guys!! if no one has gotten an email yet, there is still hope. as well, I’m sure the office is overwhelmed with emails as they are quite literally dealing with the protests right now. i bet it’s just as chaotic in the office as it is out on campus
