columbia2002, Yale?

Well, thatās not exactly true either ā most clubs and sports involve both campuses.

The School of General Studies also has separate admissions & its own alumni association - so it really isnāt all that useful to distinguish that way.

The bottom line is that Barnard is exactly what it says it is: an independent college that is affiliated with Columbia University.

The dictionary defines affiliate as
Affiliated means

Barnard side - Most of us in the CC family have just made observations on this thread. You, however, have turned it into all out war. I donāt understand why you have been so defensive that you must use all caps, bolds and insults to make your points. Touchy, touchy. Me thinks thou dost protest too much. Just my opinion.

The tension that is being displayed in this thread does not exist down in Morningside Heights! The students of all the schoolsā¦even the affiliates are respectful and respected!..And yes, Columbia students are known to be the one of the most laid back groups in the Ivy Leagueā¦I can only guess that this sentiment toward the Barnard girls is only a small percentage of the the student body at Columbia! And I am also sure that only a small percentage of the Barnard girls lie about where they go to school! I know plenty of them that are extremely proud to say that they attend Barnard!

Iām not sure how you are SURE of this. Can you please explain how you are SURE of this?

columbia 2002ā¦you need to get over yourself! And may I ask you how you are so sure of what you claim to the truth? I am sure because I know several girls that go to Barnard and many kids that go to Columbiaā¦

when you explain where your deep-seated need for validating the greatness of columbia over every other institution comes from. it actually makes me feel really sorry for you.

Columbia 2002ā¦I take it that you graduated Columbia in 2002ā¦Am I correct?

āwhen you explain where your deep-seated need for validating the greatness of columbia over every other institution comes fromā

What?? Columbia2002 may be validating the greatness of Columbia over Barnard, but I surely never got the impression he was doing it over āevery other institution.ā Why the insults and defensiveness?

Columbia is not greater than Barnardā¦It is different and maybe harder to get intoā¦That does not make it greaterā¦

thanks, thatās all iām saying

columbiaās better than barnard and more selective too. Why canāt barnard accept that? Check grad school placements and basically all the stats confirm that. Barnard is a good school but just as UVA, UNC r a good school arenāt better than Columbia by the slightest bit.

This is getting better! So, you know SEVERAL girls from Barnard. If you are SURE that only a small percentage lie, wouldnāt you need to know more than SEVERAL girls? And assuming, for argumentās sake, that you āknowā a substantial number of Barnard girls, how can you be SURE that they donāt lie. Have you seen what they put on their resumes, how they describe themselves to people they meet, etc.?

Are you really this obnoxious or are you just fooling around here?

Thank you! I have never ā ā ā ā ā ā ā for Columbia over every other institution. Iāve pointed out numerous things all the things that I think suck about Columbia. Iāve declined to push Columbia to people who had good reasons for attending different colleges.

columbia does have a lower acceptance rate, ie making it āmore selective.ā i fully accept that and donāt at all deny that. all iām saying is that it doesnāt make columbia ābetterā and doesnāt mean that barnard students are ashamed to say they go to barnard. iād proudly tell anyone at columbia and anyone in general that iām attending barnard in the fall. meanwhile, i also believe that college experience is based on other factors besides āgrad school placements,ā though congrats to columbia for what iām sure are fine statistics in that area. good for them.

Why canāt you answer my questions? If you make a statement, be prepared to back it up. If you want to opine on things that youāre qualified to talk about, fine. If you want to tell us how you feel about something, fine. But donāt proclaim to have any authority to talk about something that you have no clue about. Got it?

I answered your questionsā¦and they were based on my observations and opinions ā¦I never claimed that they were factsā¦Saying I am sure implies that that is what I thinkā¦No, these are not documented facts OKay, there may be girls that lie on their resumes which in my opinon (again not a fact!) is terribly wrong! All I was saying is that I donāt think the problem that you are talking about between Barnard and Columbia is as widespread as this thread makes it out to be⦠I never said that it is nonexistent!

If you only know several Barnard girls, how can you have any basis for formulating an opinion as to whether something about Barnard girls is widespread or not?

columbia 2002ā¦are you serious here?
