For what itās worth, Iāve taken several courses here that include Barnard girls, and it is impossible to tell whether they go to Barnard or CC unless you ask them.

Read my post closelyā¦I was discussing the tension on the campus between CC, Seas and BCā¦The several people that I have spoken to do not feel that the tension is widespread or that it is a problemā¦And tension is a feeling so we may have to deal with some opinions hereā¦As for the mispresentationā¦I just gave my opinionā¦I have no hard evidence but the girls I know are very proud of being at Barnard so I would only hope that they would never misrepresent themselves⦠If they do then so be itā¦

You previously said you were SURE of something about thousands of Barnard girls because you know several of them. Now youāre SURE of something about thousands of Barnard girls because you 1) know several of them and 2) talked to several other people about it!

It seems that youāre trying to dodge the bullet by talking about it being an opinion and the fact that you have no hard evidence. Sounds like you arenāt so SURE.

I would agree. Nobodyās saying Barnard girls are dunces who come into Columbia classes and disrupt class time by asking moronic and asinine questions. Pretty much every Barnard girl would be able to graduate from Columbia had she been accepted to Columbia.

Why shouldnāt they? They are part of Columbia UNIVERSITY. You seems to think that folks from Staten Island really should tell people that they are from Staten Island instead of NYC?

I applied to both CC (my #1 choice) and Barnard (the āsafetyā). Needless to say, I was shocked when I was waitlisted at my so called safety. At the time, I thought, what are the chances that I would be admitted to be my dream school if I was waitlisted by Barnard, a school ranked āfar belowā CC?

I was estatic when I received that thick package from CC.

My point? There are different standards for CC and Barnard. i.e. In terms of admissions, I just happened to fit better at CC.

IMO, to say that both, in essence, are the same is wrong. However, I really donāt get this whole hostility thing toward Barnard. If CCers truly believe they are better, more qualified, etc, what do they have to fear if they compete against a Barnard girl for a job?

āWhy shouldnāt they? They are part of Columbia UNIVERSITY. You seems to think that folks from Staten Island really should tell people that they are from Staten Island instead of NYC?ā

ohmywow, there is such thing as being too good for a school. Plus Iām sure CU tells barnard which girls it plans to accept so that barnard doesnt accept them as well because odds are the person will chose CC over barnard and that way barnard can maintain a better matriculation rate. I am certain that if you werent gonna get accepted to CC, barnard wouldāv accepted you.

Oh girlie, I really wouldnāt count on you giving up :)

You have posted numerous threads refusing to accept Barnard being part of Columbia University. It must really really really bothered you that āthoseā Barnard gals have the same rights as cc boys (like you son and his friends) to accept what Columbia UNIVERSITY has to offer.

yes they are separate and columbia university and barnard colleges have seperate undergrad institutions but iām sure columbia helps barnard out in that respect because it is in their best interest that barnard rank as high as possible because of the agreement between them (definately NOT saying that barnard is part of columbia here because it is NOT!)ā¦to some degree you can probably speculate that the eight ivy league schools (harvard, penn, princeton, columbia, cornell, dartmouth, brown and yaleā¦just wanted to list them since there was some confusion about who they were in an earlier post) communicate to some extent when it comes to admissions in order to remain as competitive as possible.

ā¦basically, in college admissions, like any other game, you tend to help out ur friends.
