Based on SAT scores, GPA, and ec's, where should I go?

<p>If your SAT scores range from high 600’s to mid 700’s, and you have pretty decent ec’s along with a 4.0 GPA, what are good universities worth applying to? I know Harvard would be a waste of time and money, but are there any other ivy’s that might still be worth looking into?</p>

<p>If not ivy’s, what top universities in the US are there? I know Berkeley is very good, and so are a few others like Chicago and Texas…(i’m canadian btw)</p>

<p>SAT I: 720 Math, 680 Reading, 710 Writing
SAT II: 750 Math I, 720 Math II, Physics 650
GPA: 4.0 unweighted
Canadian, Male, Caucasian
Good ec’s + possible volunteer work in Africa later on this year</p>

<p>I am also really into business/economics, so based on that, along with my stats, where should I apply? Like most people, I want the best I can probably get.</p>

<p>There are tons of great schools in the US. Buy yourself the US News and World Report “America’s Best Colleges” magazine or online membership and any of the top 50 National Universities and the top 50 LAC’s will offer you a solid to excellent education. Then, think about purchasing/checking out the Fiske’s Guide to Colleges or other college guides so that you can get more of an idea about what the colleges are actually like to attend. Don’t get obsessed with a school’s ranking, but know that for a student with your stats, the top 50 universities and colleges would provide options ranging from true safeties to real reaches and everything in between and will offer you myriad choices that could fit your every whim. </p>

<p>If you apply to a reasonable amount of selectivity of colleges (not just the super selective), you will certainly be able to find your way to a top business/econ program.</p>

<p>Is $$ a consideration? If not, NYU stern is a reasonable reach and is a top business program that you’d have a shot at. Try to raise the SATs.</p>

<p>The UC schools would be good matches, I believe. And maybe look at Vanderbilt?</p>
