Basic Q on CDS

Hello, would someone help me understand the CDS. I have seen them and they are have loads of information in them.
How what does one use the CDS? here is what i am thinking - please correct/advise - many thanks.

*percentile SAT Scores to see where the student might fit in

 • yield - how many enrolled?
 • $$ - costs
 • what else and how???

not sure where this question would fit - hence the parents forum.
Many thanks!!

You can also see:
waitlist information - how many students are offered admission
average class sizes in academic classes
How many students graduate each year with what degrees
how many students are full-time vs. part-time
racial/ethnic diversity of student body
gender diversity of student body
criteria for admission selection
whether students can defer admission, and if so, for how long
Greek life %
How many live on-campus vs off-campus
Average age of students
Activities offered
Campus housing options
If ROTC is offered
Gender diversity of faculty
If faculty are full-time or part-time

Since all schools are asked the same questions, it’s a good comparison between various schools.

My main questions when I check the CDS are:

Acceptance rate
SAT/ACT scores
factors considered for admission
retention rate (how many students stick around after their first year)
graduation rate (how many students actually graduate in either 4 or 6 years)
student/teacher ratio
class size

Many of the other categories (school activities, majors) are covered by the Princeton Review website, which I just find easier to read. I wouldn’t necessarily trust it for the numbers, though.
