Deferred OOS
Deferred from both UMich and UNC…![]()
Deferred from two of my reach schools…T_T
oh well, congrats to everyone who got in!
and good luck to everyone who got deferred!!

UNC routinely not only defers but rejects candidates who have been admitted to many top schools including Columbia and Cornell and even Duke so why would Georgetown be so different?

It has been said here many times before but I will say it again, an OOS admission to UNC is a tough ticket to punch and should not be taken lightly.

An in-state student who posted somewhere on this board yesterday said he/she got accepted into Georgetown but deferred by UNC. That is kinda strange unless there were some unusual circumstances.

deferred OOS.
sigh

Got in instate! Thank goodness for residency. Ha.

eadad - I knew UNC OOS admissions was difficult, but I never realized that it was more difficult than Georgetown, Columbia, or Duke.

I got in OOS and deferred from Georgetown, so I just assumed that Georgetown was more difficult.

Accepted. yay for safety.

congrats to accepted.
good luck to deferred.
i’m sorry to rejected.

ch is one tough cookie. ESPECIALLY for all of the out-of-state people…so many applicants…most of them extremely qualified. for the deferrals (what is the word?) and rejections, don’t feel bad.

“I knew UNC OOS admissions was difficult, but I never realized that it was more difficult than Georgetown, Columbia, or Duke. I got in OOS and deferred from Georgetown, so I just assumed that Georgetown was more difficult.”

EADAD is mostly correct:

UNC’s OOS admit is 20% (yield is 33%.)

Georgetown’s admit rate is 23% (yield is 47%.)

Duke’s (Trinity Arts & Sciences) admit rate is 22% (yield is 45%.)

Columbia’s admit rate is 10% (yield is 62%.)

2 out of 3 ain’t bad ;)
