<p>I was just checking my application on Bates’ application status portal, and I have the “Personal essay” spot marked as not received. What’s this all about? I sent the common app and supplement, and those are marked as received. What essay was this?</p>
<p>I would like to hear from a Bates or other admissions expert on the best way to check on this type of quirky application issue. My daughter applied ED2, over a month ago, and never received an ID for checking up on the status of her application.</p>
<p>Come to find out, an important recommendation had not been mailed by her teacher - and who knows what else may be incomplete, since she has no way of checking. Just received a deferral and still has no way of checking what they’ve received (such as that teacher’s follow-up).</p>
<p>When she called mid-january, the office was still wading its way though boxes of paper and couldn’t tell her whether they had all the parts of her application.</p>
<p>Sounds like a call to the office is the most expedient remedy unfortunately, I’d say.</p>
