Bath & Body Works moisturizers and shampoos: do they work?

I have a ton of coupons from bath & body works and am planning to pick up a few gifts. I am wondering whether the moisterizers and shampoos do a good job–that is, do they moisturize and clean well–or do they just smell good? I am thinking maybe I should stick with the perfumes or body sprays?

The scented lotions are fine as moisturizer but the True Blue Spa line there has some moisturizing creams that D and I think work really work well on dry winter skin.

Their jarred candles burn well, too.

I love their lotions and the hand soaps - the soaps smell better than any other soap I’ve found.

I own quite a few things from there…I tend not to use the products labeled Bath and Body Works, though, as I think they are a bit harsh. I prefer their other lines, like CO Bigelow. Great scents, and they do what they say they’ll do.

Th skin care line they carry–Patricia Wexler?–is superb. They have an “intro” box deal that is enough for months.

I hate to sound rude but are you sure the people you are gifting to use their stuff? I only mention it because people get me stuff to there all the time as what seems to be a default gift for women and I’m really allergic to most of it. I tried one of their lotions that someone gave me a few months ago, after not having used any of their stuff in years as it made me sick, hoping that maybe they changed something in their formula… I wound up taking a half day from work and coming home sick as a dog. I always wind up giving it all away to people I know actually use it. I try to avoid that store like the plague. I even walk on the other side of the mall when I pass it. :)

I also like their True Blue line. Another good gift idea from there is any of their sugar/salt scrubs. I noticed there was a new one when I was in there a couple of weeks ago - it was Margarita scented! (a fun gift for a young adult perhaps) But there are other scrub choices that are more mild (lavender, etc.)

I love the shea butter foot cream and some of the Wexler products. I also have used the shampoos and shower gels from time to time, but I like some scents and hate others. That could make gifting tricky.

That Margarita-scented one is excellent for any really rough patches, like elbows or heels. But the fragrance is really, really strong! If anyone came over after I used it, I always wondered if they thought I was a secret drinker 'cause the whole place would smell like Jimmy Buffet’s bar!
