Bought through Amazon to get quick delivery. Delta has honored the warranty will sending new parts, but the parts aren’t the issue, the design is.
I just bought a $50 shower head that looks like it’s going to work. I might have to eat the cost on the Delta.
Did that and it made absolutely no difference which lead me to believe their was actually something wrong with the unit
I thought I would dislike the way the grab bar looks, but I actually like it. I bought the one that matches my fixtures.Delta Contemporary (1-Pack) 18" Shower Grab Bar Seniors ADA Compliant Champagne Bronze 450 lb Capacity Bathroom Safety Handle for Shower, Bathtub | Wall Mounted Balance Assist, Grip Bar 41818-CZ https://a.co/d/0isrS4Lh
Also, this toilet paper holder is also a grab bar.Bathroom Grab Bar with Toilet Paper Holder, Champagne Bronze 41550-CZ https://a.co/d/0a3HSvAp
No renovating advise as we still have our 1993 bathrooms. But I do recommend having a good medicine cabinet.
In our bathrooms we have large plate mirrors no longer in style, but we still love them. In our master bath, we moved in and realized that the builders forgot to install the medicine cabinet. We alerted the builder, who had somebody come over and install one to the left of vanity, sunk into the same wall as the door (so perpendicular to the mirror wall). If we ever redo the downstairs bathroom, I’ll probably ask for a medicine cabinet because there is an adjoining guest room that could act as first floor bedroom for us someday if needed.
We have two Moen grab bars that have shelves integrated into their design so they don’t have that “hospital bathroom” look. One is in a front corner so it holds shampoo bottles, and the other is 23 inches long, is along the long side wall and its shelf holds the soap dish. I THINK we purchased them at FW Webb. They are visible in this photo:
Demolition began on Columbus Day of last year, so I guess this is our new bathroom’s first birthday!
We got the Delta Traditional Grab Bar, which doesn’t have that institutional look IMO.

That’s what we have and they are actually a nice design element
I like the one with shelves. Here is our grab bar, Moen brand, which coordinates with our faucets and towel bars
as I said before, it’s on an angle. Along with a small corner shelf 6 in or so, helps with leg shaving. Considered a rough-in to prepare for later but decided to go ahead and do it
A couple more things we incorporated in our redo-
A power outlet in the drawer where the hairdryer is kept so you don’t have to plug and unplug it
A pony wall so you can’t see the toilet when the bathroom door is open
A shelf in the cabinet under a sink that is cut out around the drain pipe and just tall enough so extra toilet paper fits on this shelf above the cleaning supplies below
A “window”, more like a hole, above the shower head. It’s about 2 ft long, 8-12 in high, tiled. There is a window nearby, not in the shower, so it lets a lot of light in. Plus it looks nice both from in and out of the shower
That’s what we have too. Holding up really really well.
We installed a grab bar in the tub when my parents (in their 80s) moved in with us 15 years ago. It’s on an angle and it looks (to me) just like another metal accent. The ones pictured above are even more elegant.
I would like a little corner grab bar with shelf but we are not tearing out the bathtub wall tile to install it. Theoretically one is supposed to be able to find wall studs or whatever and drill a hole through the tile without breaking it, but my flipper consult says, no.
Even if you don’t currently want a towel bar, any renovation should include the supports to install one in the future. If you are down to the studs anyway, it adds almost nothing to the renovation budget.
Ugh! During Amazon’s recent sale, I ordered 3 sconces for my bathroom
I received 2 with a shipping delay for the 3rd. Doesn’t seem to be shipping.
I finally ordered a 3rd for $20 more. It said it was the last in stock. I figure that I can return the more expensive one if I happen to receive both or return the 2 I have if I can’t get a 3rd
The frustrating thing with amazon is the inability to discuss anything with customer service. Support is nonexistent
The reason to buy is their selection which was far more than any other place I’ve visited
@deb922 did you try using Amazon’s chat feature? The day before Prime Day, I ordered a mattress pad. Then on Prime Day, I ordered a bunch of skin care products. The next day, an Amazon driver delivered a small box and what appears to be a shirt in its original package - both were handed to my son. The small box had all my skin care products. I have no idea what the other thing is - I didnt order it yet it has my name and address on it! I didnt get the mattress pad. When I checked its status, it says “handed directly to resident” or something like that. I waited another day, no mattress pad. It was not given to my son. I used the chat feature, and the agent immediately took care of it. I had my mattress pad early the next morning, no additional charge.
If you use the feature “problem with order” or something like that, it takes several steps to get to the “chat with a live agent” or something like that. They can probably give you credit for the $20 price difference and cancel the original order.
I fully expected to have trouble getting my missing package resolved - usually they make you wait several days to seem if it turns up. I was surprised the agent immediately resolved my problem and sent a new one.
I tried the chat feature but it was AI and the prompts weren’t for what I was looking for.
When I look at the order for the one sconce that I’m not receiving, it keeps pushing the ship day out into the future. Chat doesn’t seem to recognize that.
I’ll try and use chat again when the sconce I ordered today ships.
Thanks for the tip
Oh the chat with AI is so incredibly frustrating! And then after they’ve not helped you for a couple go-rounds, the first option you can pick is “thanks I’m all set”. It’s like designed to make people’s blood pressure rise. Is it possible the third sconce could be ordered either directly or through a Home Goods store?
We have an industrial L shaped bar that is about two feet on one side and 3 feet on the other. It has saved my life- before my back surgery, it helped me stay upright and safe in the shower. It is perfect for hanging dripping bathing suits, wool socks to dry, wash cloths, etc. When I close the fluted glass shower doors, it is out of sight. Function over form!
Make sure to take photos while the bathroom is gutted, so you know exactly where everything is located behind the wall, including this 2x4!
