Hi All - Following this strong from a couple years ago. My daughter has a scheduled interview for the Batten scholarship at Hollins for February. For those who went through this process - any specific suggestions for prepping for the interview, or what they are looking for in a recipient?
@Sweetgum may have insight from her student/friends.
My daughter was awarded a full tuition scholarship at Hollins although she decided to attend a different college.
In her interview I think she brought the artwork she completed for HS English assignments (one was a funny graphic novel of Hamlet). I probably encouraged that bc Hollins has a MFA in Children’s book writing and illustration which I think is the only one in the U.S. I thought/think she would be a great Children’s book writer and illustrator bc she is very creative and loves books. She is also outgoing and very personable so I’m sure that helped.
She’s now a middle school English teacher and gets to share her love of books that way.
