BBC :No More Boys and Girls

Anyone else watch this BBC doc? A doctor tries to turn a class for 7 year olds into a gender equal classroom. It’s a 2 part show. Only one has aired in the UK, so only the first half is available now. What’s weird is that while it doesn’t seem all that revolutionary, a lot of people in the UK are really angry at what they call “social engineering.”

Here’s part one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PyQS94Pfa8 See what you think!

We watched it and have not seen any adverse views. (We are Brits living in the UK). We found nothing revolutionary there (having brought up our children with toys and activities typical of both sexes from the start, which was pretty common then). However, I wonder whether the situation has worsened commercially, as I despair of shop layouts very specifically laid out according to stereotyped views of gender when buying for my granddaughter. I hope the Dr will find a way of helping the little boy who was so angry in both the short and long term.

That little boy (Riley) and his mom were on one of the British talk shows. He seems to be enjoying the attention!!!

I didn’t think what they did was all that startling–with the possible exception of unisex toilets–but it was interesting to see how ingrained the kids’ attitudes were at age 7.

In preschool, my younger daughter declared herself to be a boy. On further inquiry, the reason turned out to be that the children always lined up by sex, and the boys always got to go everywhere first. A short but pointed discussion with the staff solved that problem. (Note that this was in the twenty-first century AD).

I like the British doctor’s idea much better.

Thank you OP. I enjoyed the view.
