I’m 16 and a sophomore at my high school. I really would like to go to BC over any other college. I realize now if i want to go to a college like BC i have to start working harder. What does BC look for and what should i do to eventually get into BC.

Thanks to all that help.

What i mean is do they look for gpa over amount of aps, extra curricular, sports, clubs, outside of school things, volunteering. Which are the most important?

Everything lol. You really need to be the best of the best. Be involved, get your grades up (and challenge yourself at the same time), take the SAT AND ACT and see which you do better on and volunteer!!! Enjoy high school and take advantage of the time you have there!

By the time you apply for admittance, the stats for acceptance will be insane. I always say this but if I applied to BC with my stats for the following years, I’d flat out get rejected lol.

Aim for the best in every subject, meaningful ECs, but don’t waste your high school career trying to pad your resume.

You’ll have a better shot at getting accepted devoting your time to a project you care about, rather than spreading yourself thin across 1-2 hour a week activities like National Honor Society.

Just my $0.02.

I know but im debating what classes i should take next year (junior year) and if i take harder classes my grades will dip ( just a bit!) so i don’t know whats more important- GPA or harder classes (ap classes)

AP Classes. No doubt. You need to have a challenging curriculum or else you have no shot. take the most difficult courseload that you can handle

Just take the classes that you enjoy. If you like science take as many AP science classes as you can same with any other subject. Show them you have a passion and have it be supported by your extra cirruculars as well as the classes you take. Your graduating class will have less people applying than this year as this year is the end of the baby boomer’s kids generation but students will me doing even more in these next couple of years because they see how difficult it is now.

Demonstrating some leadership, like captain of a team or a club officer helps, other things being equal. Show that you can do several things well, hold up to a demanding school workload while also having time for fun and athletics. Do some volunteer work. Have fun at what you do.
