I received my financial aid package on the 12th of April, and it included Perkins, unsub and sub loans, work study and a $25,000 grant. I thought this was amazing and I was even more excited to go down for the ‘Destination BC AHANA Weekend’. (which I currently am at now) In the financial package, they requested that I fax over my father’s companies tax return. On that tax return I would say about 80% of the docuented figures were loses. And so, we thought this would surely help us! However, I get an email stating that they have re evaluatrd my situation and have stated that I am no longer eligible for need based aid and took away the sub loan and the 25,000 grant!! Why and How would they do that!! My fafsa efc was 5500, and my css profile efc was 7300. While i understand that these numbers are not really representative of how much I might really get, it still does show that Im obviousoy not able to pay over $40,000 especially with 3 siblings already in college. A guy yesterday told me that BC doesnt care what kind of company you have, as long as you are a business owner they assume that you can pay your way, as this is exactly what happened to him last year after his father faxed over his business tax. Is this really how stingy and uncaring BC is???

BC is awful with financial aid. My EFC is around the same as you and I only got $6,400 a year with $5,000 in loans. It’s ridiculous how they expect us to pay $50,000+. A few of my friends that got accepted also did not receive much help financially. I would contact them and maybe there is something they can do for you.

I got a $37,000 dollar grant + $2,500 work to study+ $3,000 in loans and my EFC is 12,000… I would strongly suggest that you call them or email them and see what happened!
