BC v. Mich

What is harder to get into Boston College or U Mich Ann Arbor out of state?

UMich hands down. i have OOS friends who got into georgetown, northwestern, uchicago, nyu stern, etc who did not get into umich. the key is to apply EARLY when you're out of state- that gives you a huge boost.

I wouldn't say "hands down." It's certainly debatable. I know of similar cases of the opposite.

They're very similar. US News ranks BC 29th in student selectivity and Michigan 23rd.

School - SAT/Acceptance Rate/Top 10%
Michigan - 1220 - 1420/50%/92%
Boston C - 1240 - 1420/27%/80%

I'd say Michigan. When I was applying, I got into the honors program at Boston College, but I was waitlisted at Michigan (eventually got in though). I've noticed a similar trend with other people.

I'd have to say Michigan...For the same reason as Squadron...

A girl in my class got into Georgetown, Stern, Carnegie with lots of cash, but not at Michigan.

There are always extremes. I was rejected from Stern and CMU and got into Michigan. Doesn't say much for either argument.

In terms of selectivity, very generally speaking, I would say Michigan OOS > BC > Michigan In-State

But it depends on many factors.
