BCS game flash - majorettes!

I was just watching all the pre-game hype for the UT-ALabama game, and they were showing the Crimson Tide band in the background. Good golly, there were a dozen or more baton-twirling majorettes in spangly costumes strutting and jumping around like it was 1957. Thinking this was a relic from a previous time (and tying to the thread about what’s different in the South) I googled and discovered LOTS of schools, from Rutgers to Cal Poly (with lots of stops in between), still have twirlers. Maybe just a couple or whole squads of 20. Wow, did everyone else know this?

s goes to Penn State. Our first football game, they did a half time show with a championship twirler. She did some amazing things while twirling multiple batons…wow. I couldn’t do those things WITHOUT the five batons in the air. I hear she graduated this year. Yeah, baton twirlers are still big at the big sports schools.

Our kids’ big state u’s (in the south) have twirlers but just a couple, not as many as 'Bama. Kids attend same schools that DH and I attended. We had twirlers back way back then too.
