Be honest: Would you be sad if your kids decide to forgo marriage/parenthood?

I’m walking on my treadmill and wanted to post a :tada: and accidentally hit flag post. I immediately exited but I sincerely hope I didn’t flag this wonderful news. I didn’t choose a reason for the flag so hope it didn’t get sent for review.

Apologies and congrats, @bhs1978

:joy: all good! Even a flag wouldn’t mess with my excitement.

I said near the beginning of this thread that I would not be sad if my kids did not have kids if they didn’t want them. (One has said no way and the other said maybe they would adopt when they were older). I want for my kids what I have always wanted - for them to be happy and healthy.

But we were just talking about this at work the other day. One 30-something is not having kids and she has not to said anything to her mother because she thinks her mother will be sad/disappointed.

Another co-worker said she wouldn’t be upset with her kids, but disappointed. She always envisioned them having kids.

I thought maybe I was weird because I would not be sad or disappointed. But I realized I never envisioned my kids as parents or me as a grand parent. I just didn’t envision anything that far out - what they would be doing career-wise, where they would be living, etc.
