Beat and worst companies for holiday shipping

The worst- Under Armour, ordered basketball shorts and white athletic socks on cyber Monday. Shorts have shipped and will arrive hopefully tomorrow. Socks won’t arrive till the 19th. I’m making a note to not order from them next year. I only ordered from them since S wanted plain black basketball shorts. I should have gone to Ross.
Target- order taking over 10 days to arrive.
Best- Amazon, Rothys and Costco

I ordered something from Pendleton on 12/3, it shipped 12/10, I think scheduled for delivery early next week. And J Peterman is taking forever! Well, close to two weeks. The charge actually fell off and came back on my account once or twice by the time they shipped. Maybe the slower shipping is part of their nostalgia vibe?

My dogs are happy to report, however, that Chewy.com is still very prompt with their kibble.

Ordered several things from Target and they each came on a different day and in a different package, yikes!

I was pleasantly surprised by Macy’s. They’ve been a disaster in the past, but I needed electric blankets fast and they came in 2 days, just like they said they would, with free shipping.

Just saw my typo. Should read Best!
My Target items came in separate boxes that were huge for the size of the item.
Adding Moosejaw to companies that ship quick and fast.

Macy’s was very prompt with the makeup shipped and sent it at no charge (though they wanted to charge me $10 until I called to complain so it got waived).

Columbia Sportswear has been very speedy with its shipping. Ordered something on Cyber Monday and got it the other day. This week, ordered a vest and already received it—maybe 2 days after order!

Global Mamas is pretty slow—took my money but no sign of merchandise.

H has been getting lots of Amazon purchases pretty promptly.

I ordered some treats for my son from Harry and David as a care package during finals. The whole order took more than ten days! I was a bit disappointed it took so long and it didn’t arrive during study time as I wanted. At least It did arrive on his most difficult day when he had two exams.

Target and Macy’s have been the worst. I even received a message from Macy’s after a week saying my item was now back ordered 2 weeks and to click if I wanted to just cancel. I didn’t. Then the next day I got a shipped date and tracking number.

Now I’m so mad. I just got another Target delay backorder message. I ordered S AirPod pro on November 28th, it’s the only thing he’s asked for. They had a delivery date the first time of Dec, 5th, it’s been pushed back 3 times. Just now I got another one to approve for Dec. 27th. I could have tried to find another place to order these last 3 weeks, as it’s a hot item. Now he won’t have the one thing he wants. I’m so over Xmas already,

I have had very good luck with REI. Also, I am impressed with Simply to Impress for Holiday cards. They have tons of options, easy to use website and they arrived quickly!

Recently ordered 4 of the same kind of item from Target. Arrived promptly in 2 separate packages. They got half the order wrong. They re-sent that half — in 2 more packages! However they only notified me of one of the shipments, so I spent about 15 minutes on the phone harassing them after the first replacement arrived, until I realized that the one shipment listed in my account was still en route and had a different tracking number than the package in my house. Annoying!

I ordered 4 items from Target. 3 boxes arrived spread out over a week.

I started getting the $1 digital credits from Amazon rather than the 2 day shipping, depending on when I need the item. I placed many orders around Black Friday/Cyber Monday and had them arrive on “my” day – the next Thursday. Got one large box with 12 orders in it, $12 credit to buy Kindle books and feel a little less guilty about the packaging and shipping footprint.

Although sometimes with amazon, my stuff still comes in different packages. I did get a notification that they shipped out 8 items so here’s hoping they are in one box.

Everything is shipping slow this year. I had notifications that stuff would arrive today but it’s not in my city so I’m doubtful

Have had some weird stuff with Amazon this year. First an email that my item was backordered and that I could cancel if it doesn’t come on time, then another email that it wasn’t shipping and they didn’t have a new date for me, and finally less than an hour later, notification that it actually shipped. Everything arrived when originally expected. Odd.

Amazon, Rothy’s, Bonobos, Land’s End, Nordstrom: no complaints with this group. Easy to order online, and prompt receipt of goods within terms promised.

Knock wood…have had no issues with gifts this Christmas season…

Shutterfly: First go round of Xmas cards had a production flaw on 20% of cards. After sending picture of bad cards, they sent a whole new set of everything…which was wasteful…the envelopes were fine, as were about 100 of the cards. I just needed about 25 cards replaced. Their Customer service was very prompt…but now I have about 100 cards that I guess I’ll use as coasters!

@10smomlc

I like that option with Amazon!

Right after I made my post, Global a Mamas came through and delivered exactly what I had ordered, complete with 25% discount. I’m happy!

Ordered something from Macy’s and I can’t figure out how many shipments it’s coming in and when to expect the parcels. Oh well, the items are just for me but I find their messages confusing.

Anybody tired of FedEx not knocking or ringing the doorbell? We have a big package theft issue in our neighborhood. UPS always rings or knocks!

My MIL said she experiences the same.

Yes. It is as though they’ve instructed them NOT to ring the bell or knock. I experience this with UPS and Delivery people for USPS too. I use informed delivery emails so I can check to see if something has been delivered if I am working online in my home. Annoying.

@conmama, I was furious a week or so ago at our FEDEX driver. It was 6:30 at night, so already dark. My dogs were acting up as if someone was outside so I looked out front and there was a FEDEX truck parked. I live on a corner lot with my driveway on the side of my house and mailbox next to the (short) driveway. I also have a covered front porch.

I was not expecting a FEDEX package, that I was aware of, and didn’t open my front door as I was trying to contain my dogs, but I was able to see the driver walking down the street on the side where my driveway is. He walked by my house to the next house and left two packages out at the street in front of their mailbox then walked back past my house, leaving a package at the street in front of my mailbox as well. Then got back in his truck and drove away.

Now I get drivers are busy this time of year and he didn’t want to take the time to walk up the front steps of my house and my neighbor’s (a full set of steps as our homes are elevated). But he left the packages basically in the street (on the grass immediately next to the pavement) for anyone driving past to see. He could not even be bothered to walk two car lengths to at least put them by our garages, less visible from the street. On top of that, with it being 6:30 at night, most people around here are already home from work, many in for the night and would not have any idea a package is sitting out at the street, just waiting for a “crime of opportunity” thief to help him/herself to it.

Just the day before, someone posted on our community FB page asking if anyone had mistakenly received a FEDEX package that belonged to her. As a result, I alerted everyone on our FB page to check outside at the street by their mailboxes if they were expecting a FEDEX package.

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it), my dogs alert me as soon as any delivery truck even passes by down the street LOL. And they are especially crazy when they hear or sense someone coming to the door, so I don’t necessarily need a knock at the door, but if not for them, it would be nice for drivers to ring the doorbell or knock when something is dropped off. Despite my dogs’ alert system, I have made it a practice to check my front porch, and now mail box area, several times a day, and before I head to bed for the night. Amazon and Lasership are notorious for very late evening deliveries.

I have USPS “informed delivery” as well as UPS tracking notification. And Amazon also notifies me of delivery. FedEx is the only one that I don’t receive notice for, unless I’m actively tracking a specific package online via the store I purchased from, which I rarely do unless it seems to be taking a while.

My UPS driver is my absolute favorite. He’s had our route for a while. Even leaves treats for my dogs on top of the packages. Of course this is part of the reason they now go berserk when they hear delivery trucks. ?

@4kids4us I have a FedEx profile that does send notifications when they make a delivery for just this reason, only our driveway is a shared dirt one with mailboxes and street 1/4 mile away and out of sight of our house. FedEx driver has left 30 lb. bags of kibble down there. I get texts from neighbors (“Tell your dogs their Chewy box is here”). And yeah, I have the dogs sounding the alarm too. No sneak deliveries possible on my doorstep.
