You are lucky not to need foundation or concealer! I would skip it if I could, but I’d scare people if I went out without pressed powder, lipstick and mascara. Zombie! lol.
After years of reading cosmetics reviews on sites like makeup alley, beautypedia/paula’s choice, sephora, nordstrom, etc. I’ve realized I should have just turned to CC in the first place
Is something wrong with my new mascara? I tried the double ended L’Oreal tube mascara, and it was weird. The white end was like stroking glue on my lashes. Then the black end was, I guess, ok, but it didn’t smoothly glide, it sort of kept getting stuck as I tried to drag it along the lashes. I eventually got it to look ok, and it did stay on all day.
I went back to the Perversion (Urban Decay) mascara today, and prefer the way it glides on evenly and doesn’t clump. Some of these products really are trial and error.
I wear concealer, eyeliner, and EOS most days. Some days I’ll go the extra 15 seconds and wear Maybelline BB cream.
@raclut Yes! There is something wrong with you! You are cursed with good skin!
Signed, one with pronounced acne scars, active breakouts, blotchy uneven skin tone, darkening under eyes, age spots…
I’m trying the IT Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream starting today.

I’ve been using it for a week now, and it sounds like you got a weird tube …maybe old??? was it left in a hot car?? The white glides on, even if it is some sort of glue ( @pizzagirl I’m not allergic to this at all, unlike lash extension glue). The black goes on just like regular mascara.
The white does look weird going on because it’s white on your lashes, but then you quickly add the black. Are you waiting too long between putting the black on the white?? Are you trying to put too much white on? It’s really just 1-2 swipes over each lash area…and then black goes on.
Love that it stays on all day, no smears…and does come off in tiny tubes.
@psychmomma You might want to take it back and get a new one.
^ Yeah, it didn’t make sense - I know all who were recommending it had to have good experiences with it.
ha! I think I’ve just been scaring people for decades. I now have age spots - lots and lots of them. Large ones too. I could use concealer under my eyes. That’s why I’m reading this thread.
I got the IT CC cream. It’s okay. I’m not thrilled with it. I’ve tried BB cream in the past - I may go back to that. I also got the L’Oreal Mascara. Wow. That really lengthened my lashes but wearing mascara feels…new…to me.
I’ve probably been scaring people my whole life. I"ve never worn foundation, or lipstick, or blush. Most days I wear no makeup at all. On days I do wear makeup, I wear a little Bare Minerals liner shadow powder in taupe along my lash line, and brown/black mascara, and sometimes clear lip gloss. I’ve started to use lip products in the last couple of weeks. I’m using Jouer lip treatment, and my lips look better, and I’m wearing Jouer Lip Sheer in Rosy Stain - it has SPF 15 and adds just a trace of color to my lips. I like the way it feels on.
I wanted to venture into tinted moisturizer, and I went to Nordstroms and found out what color I am in Laura Mercier’s TM - blush. I only put it on one day, though, and didn’t really like it. I may try using a Beauty Blender (I’ve learned so much on this thread).
I am into skin treatment. The most effective product is Vitamin C serum. I started with the expensive C E Ferulic, but it is horribly expensive and it goes bad before you can use it up. I switched to the Obagi version, which has a higher amount of vitamin C (20%). I’m about to order the Timeless version, which is much more reasonably priced.
I also use Retin-A and sunscreen with SPF at least 40 every day. I like Elta MD, but I tried a new one last week and I’m going to return it. It’s and all-physical sunscreen with a slight tint. The tint is OK, but the sunscreen itself goes on like foundation and I can’t stand it. Today I’m wearing a sample of a Skinceuticals sunscreen. It also went on like foundation, although it looks better than the Elta MD version. But I can feel it sitting on my skin and I can’t stand it, I’ve been dying to wash it off all day.
^^ Big fan of jouer highlighter. High end quality minus the high end price.
Homemade vitamin C serum is so much cheaper. I buy powdered vitamin C from Trader Joe’s and mix about 1/2 teaspoon with water in a shotglass. You can google different ratios online or just experiment to see what works. makeupalley has lots of positive reviews https://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=75237/Homemade-Vitamin-C-Serum/No-Brand-(DIY-or-homemade)/Treatments-(Face)
@NYMomof2 “But I can feel it sitting on my skin and I can’t stand it, I’ve been dying to wash it off all day.”
Yes, I had that problem, too, couldn’t wait to wash my face to get the make up off. Ulta rep said to try a primer ( Lancôme I think ) which basically puts a barrier in skin to prevent the absorption of makeup into skin-
The primer was working - then I tried that IT CC Cream which didn’t need primer and I don’t have the urge / need to wash face. Amazing to me
FYI- regarding returning product - took MAC LIPSTICK back to Macy’s was too drying - right now RIMMEL is front runner of six ones I’m testing.
For sensitive stinging eyes ( haven’t worn mascara liner for many years ) the Lancôme defincils and tarte pencil liner are working - beyond excited about this
Tried the tube mascara again and it is pretty nice- lashes are definitely longer. Seeing white on my lashes in the first step sort of creeps me out, but it does get covered well with the black coat. It is not bothering my eyes, which is also a plus.
The IT Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream does a nice job of covering redness. It’s easy to over-apply. A little goes a long way. I’ve been using a knock-off Beauty Blender sponge.
I’m having a little trouble applying the IT CC cream over the Redness Corrector, but using a sponge, using very little, and stippling seems to work okay. Again, I’m impaired when it comes to color matching and blending.
I suspect I need to mix the Fair and the Light, as someone mentioned upthread.
Transluscent powder all over to set.
I just purchased a vitamin c line on hsn. I hope it works out well. It was a Serious Skincare four piece set on sale for $60 but with Visa checkout I got $25 off that price. All the four items were double size products so I hope they will last awhile.
I also like the L’oreal tube mascara and got it the same time as everyone else. I also splurged and purchased a tweeterman eyelash curler. I can really see my lashes lengthening as I put on the black part. The only thing I don’t like is when I pull it out of the tube you can see a little black clump of mascara at the end. I know that is typical, but I think it’s just a little too much.
@mom2collegekids …how’s the castor oil working? I’m going to try it after my trip.
yes, wanting to know how the castor oil is working.
Have been using lattise for the past 5 weeks. I did not see any change in my eyelashes so stopped,
But there is new growth on my eyebrows. Just need a cheaper solution.
I am trying the castor oil on eyebrows and eyelashes. Just started April 15, am doing it nightly and haven’t noticed any difference yet. The oil on the lashes does make my eyes itchy, but I have fairly significant allergies this time of year anyway.
So, speaking of castor oil, I found a shampoo and conditioner that has castor oil in it:

It looks like it is sort of marketed towards african american women, but it worked on my hair really well, and I’m an anglo with straight blonde (with help) hair. It smells nice, looks scary coming out of the tube (dark liquidy brown), and my hair looks really good. I don’t have an issue with thinning, but I figured let’s keep it healthy. I’m so happy with it, because it has no parabens or other junk, either.
I got mine at Walmart, I just posted the first link I found so y’all could see it.

I notice a difference on my eyebrows. Don’t need pencil anymore. Still too early, I think, to tell with eyelashes because I don’t think I was applying it in the best way. I was using an empty mascara wand, but I don’t think that was getting the oil to the folicles (like directly applying to brows was). So, now I gently massage, with eyes closed, into the base of the eyelashes. Now, we’ll see.
I started using Boots No. 7 Fanomenal Lash Serum a few months ago. My eyelashes were very short and half of one eyebrow had gone missing. I’d decided maybe it was how I slept on my face. I bought it for $10 after one of my students asked where my eyebrow had gone. I didn’t have very high hopes, but some of the reviews made it sound promising and the price was right.
My lashes are now in the normal to long category. They are still not thick but length is greatly improved. I also put it where the eyebrow used to be and it is growing back. I don’t think this product will help people who want to lengthen and thicken already normal lashes and brows, but if you are really lacking it will help. D1 tried it on her stubby lashes and says they are longer. It is not greasy or oily and doesn’t burn if it gets in my eyes. I put in on every evening with the brush it comes with.
