Beauty tips!

Thanks, all, for the eyebrow tips. Mine have thinned and the outer edges are gone. Seeing an old photo (from 30 years ago) made me realize how much is gone.

The Lattise comes with individual brushes --one for each eye and each night. The oil goes along the follicles
on the eyelashes (not on the lashes). I do not like the brushes and was advised to use a very thin makeup brush.
Works well. Also on the brow make sure it is on the skin, not on the existing hair. Same for Castor Oil.
Now to look for that shampoo…

Thanks @mom2collegekids . I’m going to start in a couple weeks. I’m glad no one is having any problems with it.

@MotherOfDragons …im wondering if that shampoo would be to softening for fine hair…not give it enough volume. Is it meant more to relax hair? Mine doesn’t need anymore of that!

@conmama it is not meant to relax hair. If anything, it gives my hair more body and makes it kind of bouncy and shiny.

I’ve been playing with false eyelashes. They look good, but they don’t feel good.

started using Boots No. 7 Fanomenal Lash Serum a few months ago. My eyelashes were very short and half of one eyebrow had gone missing. I’d decided maybe it was how I slept on my face. I bought it for $10 after one of my students asked where my eyebrow had gone. I didn’t have very high hopes, but some of the reviews made it sound promising and the price was right.

Thanks…just went to Target.com and ordered. Got an extra 20% off with the advertised code and 5% off with Redcard.

My DD gave me a great tip on eye brows. Buy a small angled brush (for like $3) at Target. Then go to Sephora and have them match you for Anastasia Duo Brow Powder. My color was soft brown, but they have I believe about 8 different colors - they can apply on you to see what works. The brow powder is about $25 but it doesn’t smear and is easy quick to apply. It is something that you won’t use up, so it is cost effective for looking better quick.

Thank you @CaliCash for the Beauty Blender tip. I am loving mine.

For those wondering how they differ from the old style wedge foam applicators: the Blenders seems to be much denser, so they don’t absorb much/any of whatever you’re applying. This is a two-fold plus: less waste absorbed into sponge and sponge easier to clean.

I would recommend getting at least two, in two colors. One for eye products and one for face. It’s a good idea to keep the eye product blender free from face products.

@mom2collegekids I’m glad you like it! Did you get the micro? I haven’t tried that one. I just have the standard pink.

So I’ve tried two new mascaras based on the comments here. I’ve been using a waterproof mascara that I liked the way it looked on my eyelashes (Maybelline Lash Stiletto), but in the afternoon I always have a bit of the raccoon eye going on. I tried both Clinique Lash Power and L’Oreal Double Extend.

Neither has given me raccoon eyes or smudged, although I haven’t been out in the rain or cried. The L’Oreal is trickier to apply since there’s two steps. While the Clinique says it removes with warm water, I’ve found it easier to remove with my regular eye makeup remover pads. It doesn’t leave the debris that the L’Oreal does (from the tubes) so I don’t know if it’s true tubing mascara, but it definitely stays on.

Today I decided to do one eye with each mascara so I could compare. The L’Oreal eye has more individually defined eyelashes. The Clinique eyelashes look a little darker/fuller. I’ll keep experimenting, but am glad that both are not smudging and that I don’t have to wipe under my eyes all day to clean up the mascara residue.

@CaliCash No, I didn’t get the micro minis. I bought the original pink …and a black one.

So at Ulta I used my coupon and bought the Real Techniques dual pack miracle complexion sponges by Sam and Alic who are sisters and pro makeup artists (the dual behind a top YouTube channel). They say they have a online tutorial for a dewy glow. realtechniques.com

I agree with mom2 about using one around eyes and another for the rest of your face.

They say to replace 1 - 3 months.

Best beauty tip: throw away your old makeup no matter how much is left in the container.

Those Petri dishes look very compelling!

Just got this new product from Kevyn Aucoin, I HIGHLY recommend. It’s an ombré product that goes from highlighter to a beautiful blush to a very flattering bronzer. It’s $58 but essentially has 4 shades of blush, a bronzer, and depending on how you use it, a highlighting blush. It comes in two shades for deeper and lighter skins. It applies very evenly and feels like butter. I absolutely love it!

It gives a very healthy glow to the skin. The highlighter isn’t too strong, so it won’t look like you’re wearing Instagram make up. So it works very well on mature skin.

So that’s my latest must have product just to keep this thread alive

Castor oil update - thumbs up. I have diligently applied to my eyebrows nightly since April 15th. They were very sparse and thin, and completely missing in parts. It took 3-4 weeks before I saw improvement. There’s no question now–what a difference–so happy to give up the eyebrow powder and filling them.

This thread is great…make up seems to be my midlife crisis. has anyone tried Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation or do we think it’s too heavy for women our age? I wore a lightweight Clinique foundation that I loved for years until it was discontinued. I got the Beyond Perfecting as a sample and I like it.

Can someone give the castor oil for eyebrow tip again?

^^^

Just get a bottle of castor oil from your local drug store and apply it to your eyebrows and/or eyelashes at night before bed. I have gotten great results with the eyebrows and some improvement with the eyelashes. Think my eyelashes are thicker but not necessarily longer.

I need to go shopping. Yikes.

Glad to hear about the castor oil. I have been using the $$$ Lattise for about two months and can really see the difference in my eyebrows. I did not see any change in my eyelashes but for $10 I am willing to try again with
the castor oil. The oil goes on the skin of your eyebrow and lashes–not the hairs. It needs to be absorbed.

Thanks for the castor oil update…I’ve waited until after an event just in case it would cause issues, but will be starting next Saturday! I don’t care if they are longer, just would like more!
