Curious to get perspectives from folks on this thread.
I’m interested in robotics. Got accepted at both Beaverworks (course tangentially related to robotics) and UCSB SRA (soft robots). i like both very much… would appreciate perspectives from folks who have knowledge of either program? best wishes to everyone for a great summer
Generally, college AOs value programs that cost less because those programs tend to be focused more on creating an enriching academic experience than making money (but do note that correlation does not equal causation). Take a look at how much both programs cost you. You’ll probably need to anyway since financial aid for summer programs is rough and they can end up costing nearly 10k.
Also, try emailing the programs and seeing if you can get admission rate stats. Going for the more competitive program is worth a shot. One thing to note is that if you go to Beaverworks, you could also do an in-person robotics internship with an MIT professor over the summer, but it will be pretty competitive.
Thanks for responding. I think Beaverworks will be quite intense, I don’t plan to do anything else during that time.
