Hi all. I’m currently a junior in high school, but I have already been thinking about my essay for some time. I was wondering if writing my essay about becoming a U.S. citizen is a good idea. I am projected to become a U.S. citizen (I’m Hispanic btw) one year from now, and I would like to talk about what I have done beforehand as well as what I hope to do in the future in college as a U.S. citizen. I want my essay to be emotional in a good way… I can’t exactly come up with what I want to specifically write in my essay at the moment, but please let me know if this is a good idea. Thanks.
Many students write about coming to America and learning to assimilate, learning English, etc. That’s a pretty cliched topic, but if you can differentiate your story from that, it definitely has potential. Any idea has potential, really. It all depends on how you write it.
