Bed Bath & Beyond might be discontinuing coupons

I’m hoping folks have started a Twitter blitz to BBB about this.

I seriously hate stores with coupons because I never have one. I just hate to keep piles of junk and even if i keep them i never seem to have them with me when i need them. Every time i shop at BBB I have to whine loudly in the check out line until another patron feels sorry for me and gives me one of their coupons.

Me too! That said, I would not pay $29 for the “privilege” of not having to carry my coupon around.

I just bought a $400 wedding gift at BBB. I saved $80. In that case…even paying $29, I would still have saved $50. So on that case…I would pay.

I’m thinking my neighborhood needs to pick a designated BBB shopper…and we all chip in to pay the $29…how about that idea?

We regularly pick up,things at BJs for our neighbors.

I’m upset I did not know they let you use it more than once and they do not expire!

No more coupons? They are dead to me.

Based on all the white/purple packages I’ve seen at weddings, BBB does a good wedding business. I like to give gift cards there (with coupon too).

This is like Macy’s deciding to suspend its constant sales. Why else would you shop there?

Messy’s? I wouldn’t step foot in the store if you paid me.

My daughter is registered, but only because of the coupons. I hope they don’t end the coupons until she uses all her gift cards.

Ok, so if BB&B does change their policy, where will we shop for kitchen and bathroom items (I’m not talking about the ‘beyond’ items). Costco definitely will be a place to consider (and I already shop there but their selection is very limited and ever changing), but where else? At Macys and Kohls you have to play the coupon game and frankly I don’t like either of these stores. Online is an option but I do like to touch a product before buying it.

So, where else is like BB&B?

Oh no. I can’t shop there without the coupon. I recently bought four curtain panels on clearance. They had to order it for me, gave me 20% off each one and free shipping to my home. Regular price was $200 and I paid $32. And the only reason they were on clearance was the color–they still sell these curtains for $50 in other colors.

To prevent having to print coupons and carry them around, I save the emails on my phone and have not had a problem with Kohl’s, Hobby Lobby, Penney’s, Ulta and others scanning them off my phone. If I don’t get emails from a store, I always check their web site on my phone for coupons before checking out.

Although they no longer have brick and mortar stores, Linens N Things is still an online store:

Add me to the list of people who wouldn’t pay $29 for 20% coupons. I pay for Amazon Prime, and use it all the time – but I don’t shop at BBB often enough.

The only way I’d consider it is if I were to move into a new house – that’s when I seem to spend a lot there.

So does this mean I should throw out my stack of coupons?

I looked at their facebook page and they repeatedly say coupons are not going anywhere. I guess we shall see.

I’ll be going to Amazon. They deliver right to my door…and my kid has Prime. I’ll window shop,at BBB…and buy at Amazon. Their prices are usually better anyway.

They have been threatening to discontinue coupons for a long time. First it was a threat to stop accepting expired coupons That never happened. Maybe this is a ploy to drum up sales currently. I have a huge bag of coupons which I bring into the store (they alway think I a returning something b/c they are in a BB&B bag) and I share them with people in line. I too will shop elsewhere if they discontinue coupons. The coupons also work at their partner store, Harmons drug store. I think they wont stop the coupons.

I agree with jym. Their bottom line would plummet without the coupons. This is a marketing ploy to get people to rush out and use all those coupons before they go away, rather than shopping at other places. Timed perfectly, just before the holidays, when many spruce up the window treatments, bed linens and table linens for holiday visitors.

As far as other places to shop beside BBB, how about Target? Small appliances, kitchen/bath items, bedding…I personally don’t know that the quality of BBB linens and such is over the top great?

I get lots of bed and bath stuff at Marshall’s and I just bought a really nice down comforter for guest bed at Nordstrom’s Rack for $60. Home Goods has big selection of small kitchen gadgets, dishes, etc., throw pillows, frames, etc., etc…

I bought sheets for guest room at Marshall’s for $15 and they are the softest sheets I’ve ever had.
