I’m on Team King! The first thing H and I said when we finally got the King about 10-12 years ago was “why didn’t we do this sooner?”.
Ok, +1 to the “no” to king beds! (remember you are allowed to use that space however you like!!! )
@fendergirl I have seen bed set ups in front of windows that look great. Especially if it’s NOT a single window. I’ll see if I can find some photos as examples
Thanks, those do like nice. And yeah, if I did it in front of a window, it would be in front of a double window. A slight problem that I see is that there is an unused radiator there, so it would be front from the window like 8-9 inches. Which may not be such a big deal, but might look a little weird. Maybe not though… that could also give the curtains space to hang down and not be smushed by the bed. I’ll have to play around with it.
You guys have me cracking up about making use of the space in the bed - LOL. I needed that, it’s been a long week!
I my king bed after spending 25 years in a queen. My husband sleeps in the middle of whatever size bed we have, so “my” side has more room in the king. Never felt as if the bed is too big.
If the bed is primarily for guests, I think a queen is fine, but I prefer a king. Sadly our bedroom is just too small for one.
I’m so glad you are getting the gaming table!
I found a king size bed/headboard combination today that i absolutely loved, however it was like $1000 (without the mattress). That felt a bit extreme… though maybe I am out of touch with the cost of beds. My current bed just has a headboard and a metal frame. I have the money, but I’m debating if it’s worth it. Anyone else “splurge” on a bed? Did you regret it?
My opinion…for your bedroom, get whatever size you want… it don’t make the room feel too crowded. For the guest room…didn’t you say you were moving your current bed in there?
I’m in the less is more group now. Trying to get rid of extra furniture we really don’t need…or use. Less clutter and more spacious.
Yeah. I’ve got the guest room sorted. I’m working on my room plans now.
I’m convinced everything is more expensive and likely very expensive these days. Getting sticker shock the cost of home renovations and furniture
Our estimate for our basement came in 30% higher than expected and we had already inflated the numbers.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I actually got a new fence installed two years ago, (white vinyl) and it took them 6 months to get in my materials, and they said that if I would have ordered just 1 month later the materials would have cost 30% more… and that was in May of 2020 when I ordered. I didn’t get it installed till September. I can only imagine what the fence would cost now.
I’d look at it this way. Probably you’re going to have a bed for a long time. Maybe even longer than some pieces of furniture like a couch! Would you spend $1000 on a couch to have for 10 years? If you really love it and it will make you happy when you walk in your bedroom, then $1000 might be worth it.
Yeah, good point!!
We have spent quite a lot on things we wanted—washer, dryer, fridge, couch, cars. We keep them a very long time and enjoy them, so no regrets. Your bed is a similar purchase. Buy what you like and enjoy it.
Took me FOREVER it seems to find the bedroom set we’ve had now for 40 years. My husband was giving up hope I’d ever find something. Still love it. My son would take it in an instant but I can’t find anything I like as well. When you really know in your gut that you love it, it’ll be worth it.
