I don’t sleep much :)

I want to double-major in dance and biochemistry or nutrition. I would prefer a school in New York City due to its proximity to the dance world. Degree first, then possibly a dance career.

Looking at:
Columbia University
Barnard
NYU-Tisch and College of Arts and Science
Juilliard (can take hard sciences at Columbia)-must audition
University of California-Irvine
University of Washington-Seattle

Be blunt…I’m very pragmatic. I’m planning a trip to NYC in two weeks, but if I’m not strong enough for these schools, I’ll save my parents the $1000.00. To be honest, I seem so below-average compared to the many posters on this board. Oh well…I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished so far.

Someone made this suggestion to me, and I pass it along…Our D is simular to you-stats, and interest in double major…save your money to visit the school once accepted. I think most of the schools you are interested in attending will require an audition. You can accomplish that by going to one or two cities close to you for a weekend called “Unifieds”. Once you are accepted, then spend the money to check out the school to determine which is the best match. In the meantime research online, try to meet local alums for interviews. The best of luck to you-the world needs your “gift” of intelligence and dance.

Thank you APOL and haterofhaters!!

I hadn’t even considered that…My parents and I were just following the mentality of visiting first. Juilliard and NYU require auditions for program admittance. I’ll be auditioning for both in California in January 2008. I’ll take your advice…audition, see where I end up, and then visit. If the auditioners don’t think I’m strong enough for their programs, then I probably don’t belong on the east coast and will concentrate on biochemistry closer to home. It doesn’t sound like I would be a strong enough candidate for Columbia anyway. One balloon popped.
