Beginning My College List

Hello! I will be entering my Senior year of high school next year and I’m starting to get my college list together and was hoping that I could get some help as far as narrowing down my list / adding to it. I’d also like some input on what schools would be reachy (how reachy) / matches. I attend a private school in New Hampshire.
First I’ll list some of my stats.
Course Load: Rigorous (took AP Bio, Lit, and History Junior year along with all possible honors classes) (Taking AP Calculus AB, Government, Comparative Government and Brit Lit)
GPA: 4.17 (4.33 scale)
SAT Cum: 2030
SAT II: Bio = 730, Math I = 570 (Royally screwed this one up [kinda panicked and left 15 blank :/] taking again in Oct / Nov)
Athletics: 3 years football (2 Varsity Letters), 1 year basketball, 3 years lacrosse
Awards: 3 year honor roll, Yale Book Award, William Soucy Scholarship
Extra Curricular Activities: 180+ Hours of Community, various clubs, Student-Guidance Rep, 3 Year volunteer at Lowell Wish Project
Aspired Major: Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering (Maybe transition to Pre-med)
College List (in no particular order):
-Johns Hopkins University
-U Penn
-Boston University
-Cornell
-Rice
-U Michigan Ann Arbor
-Tufts
-Carnegie Mellon
-Texas A&M
-University of Virginia
-Columbia
-Case Western
-Northwestern
-University of Texas Austin
-Syracuse
-Virginia Tech

JHU, Cornell, Rice, Tufts, Northwestern, Columbia, CMU, and UVA (OOS) are all reaches of various length. If you can break 700 on each SAT I section your chances will definitely improve. In my opinion you may want to shorten your list by eliminating some of these reaches. You stand a good chance at Tufts, Rice, UVA, and NU, but the other reaches will certainly be difficult with your current standardized test scores, and well, are difficult for anyone in general. Best of luck! You should be fine at many of the other schools currently on your list.

Thanks! I was planning on taking the ACT’s in September and the SAT’s one more time. I am confident that I will be able to get those scores up.

Why do you include Virginia Tech (decent state tech school) and not Georgia Tech (as far as I know, the best state tech school)? Georgia Tech is probably match-ish for you. I, personally, would research it at least a little.

University of Texas at Austin would be good target school for you
Rice would be a good reach school.
Syracuse would be a good safety.

UTA would be a MAJOR reach.
