Being a farmer's son, can it improve my chances?

Just saw an article on the internet, where an ex-admission officer at cornell says that if a student is related to a farming family, his chances are improved.
Is it true?
Here’s the link to the article:

It depends on what you’re applying for. If you’re applying to CALS for most likely any major and you can address your farming background, then yes it probably helps a lot.

As quoted in the article, " have worked on a farm, and have applied to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell are at a huge advantage because they are a great FIT with the mission, vision, and values of that particular college.". and fit is extremely important at cornell CALS so it really does improve your chances even despite for example, weaker sat scores

as long as you tie your major with your farming background (specifically if you apply for CALS), then it probably helps a LOT
