My friend Barbara is looking into various ethnic and religious studies majors. She’s also passionate about the disability and LGBT community. As a white able-bodied Christian, would she be looked askance at in such classes?

I don’t have personal experience, but I would imagine that these classes depend upon a variety of insights from many different sources, so anyone who sees your friend as “out of place” really shouldn’t be in such a major. If anything, she will be an asset with a different perspective
