Being a super senior in High School?

So i’m most likely going to be a super senior because I have bad grades and I don’t have enough credits. I’m working really hard to get them but I’ve missed a lot of school and so i’m going to have to stay an extra year can I still go to college? I really want to? I want to go to a performing arts college. Would any college accept a super senior?

"Would any college accept a super senior? " That’s irrelevant since colleges are looking to accept students in total. What’s your GPA and test scores? That’s the real question. One stellar semester (by the time you apply to colleges) out of seven isn’t going to turn too many heads. You need to be realistic and have a serious sit down w/your guid counselor.

Plus, what about will change to magically produce a 4.0GPA student when you’ve not been so in six prior semesters? I’m not trying to be confrontational but I want you to be realistic about your strengths & weaknesses – and confront what you need to do in a logical and ultimately, successful way.

Admission to performing arts programs can be very different from admission to other programs. For advice specific to that situation, you should visit the appropriate forum for your specific major. You can find the links here: [College Majors - College Confidential](College Majors - College Confidential Forums)

Your reasons for missing “a lot of school” matter. Sit down with your counselor, and talk about this. If those reasons aren’t likely to change in the future, they will be things that you need to take into consideration when you make your college list.

Nephew had the “fifth” year of HS. Applied as a senior would (his 6th year) and headed off to college.

Just apply as you would with interests and fit in regard to stats (GPA/SAT) for the schools you apply to. (Not an admissions rep, but if I were, I guess I’d like the student to have included in their essay or personal statement how the fifth year increased the maturity level of the applicant!!!
