Is it easier to get into michigan state as a Studio Art Major?

-The rest of the schools i applied for required a portfolio to be accepted into a Art Major;however, MSU does not require one so how would my application based on academics show them my artisitc skills?

My sister got accepted last year with a 21 on her ACT and a 3.2 GPA…
i already know of some friends who have been deffered with 30’s on their ACT’s and a 3.5 or higher GPA… i dont get it.

MSU doesn’t accept students on the basis of their chosen major (with the exception of the school of music where you have to audition). In terms of studio art, this means that they don’t need to know about your artistic skills in order to get into the major (as anyone with any level of artistic ability can apply as a studio art major). So having studio art as your major won’t make it any easier or harder to get into MSU.

I know this forum is about the art majors, but to clarify about admission for music majors in case any potential music majors read this: admission into the College of Music is seperate from admission into the university. There are even seperate applications; I applied to MSU early enough that I found out I got into the university itself, then I applied and auditioned to get into the College of Music. I don’t think one application even influences the other; one is about academics, the other about your musical abilty: I know many people who have gotten into MSU without getting into the College of Music, and I even know of a couple people who auditioned and got accepted by the College of Music but didn’t get into the overall university (but you do have to apply to both the college and university to be able to audition). Therefore, it’s not any “easier” to get into MSU by coming in as a music major, and so I figure it’s probably the same case for the BFA.
