Being out of state a disadvantage?

<p>Hey so I am just wondering if being out of state would be a major disadvantage to being admitted to any of the UC’s</p>

<p>Not anymore. The tides are (perhaps temporarily) turning. The UCs are in a budget crisis, and are thus admitting an increasing amount of international/out of state students to take advantage of the higher fees that we pay.</p>

<p>Chances have certainly improved for OOS. But I believe it is still locked around ~10% for 2012 application. Even if it does increase to 30% as rumored, that still doesn’t match some public schools like UVA where OOS outnumber in-state students in terms of acceptance…</p>
