<p>If you can bring your Tibetan heritage and culture alive in your application, it should be an asset. If not and you are applying as a Canadian with little or no knowledge of your heritage/culture, then it isn’t such an asset. Suggestion: look up Robert Barnett and others teaching in the area study.</p>
