From what I’ve read and noticed, Ivy League schools and top notch elite schools usually look for specialized students who are not mediocre at everything but extremely good at one thing. They’re looking for the next Mark Zuckerberg or the next Bill Gates.
For the instance of my dad who is a Yale gradate, he wasn’t special at all. He was just your typical Asian immigrant. However, he did have astounding grades.
Is the popular opinion that Ivy League schools are not looking for regular well-rounded people but for a focused individual specializing in one thing necessarily true?
