Thanks, everyone. Yes, he was very glad his girlfriend wasn’t there by herself. Her family is in Syria, out of reach.
I, too, thought immediately of you. I am so glad they are safe. This must have been frightening to you, as well as for them. My heart goes out for those in Lebanon. We were preparing for this tropical storm which has caused damage here but barely anything compared to what was going on at that time in Beirut.
My son was thoughtful and let me know right away that he was safe - I hadn’t seen the news yet.

Looking at the map, I had no idea the B&B we stayed at in 2018 was so close to the explosion - about 3/4 mile. It’s in the Mar Mikhael district, a nice area of shops, restaurants, and inns. The owner of the B&B was such a nice guy. Ugh, I hope he’s OK.
