Wondering about chances for Bellevue Basis Independent and Eastside Prep high schools.

Part of my hesitation is whether it’s worth trying given that his profile may look like “yet another swimmer passionate about math with some leadership activities.”

Academic Record:

  • 2024–2025 GPA: 4.0

  • 2023–2024 GPA: 3.6

Tests:

  • MAP NWEA Spring 2025:

    • Language Usage: 99th percentile

    • Science: 96th percentile

    • Reading: 96th percentile

    • Math: 99th percentile

  • ISEE: VR 78, RC 93, QR 95, MA 98

Extracurriculars & Leadership:

  • Swim Team – trains 12 hrs/week, competes in local & regional meets

  • Creative/technical interests: 3D graphics coding, origami, competitive math (local math academy)

  • Leadership activities at school (student-led club)

Teacher Recommendations:

  • He expects one kind of supportive recommendation and one that will be very strong.

You don’t mention what grade for the applicant. These are 2 very different schools including 1 that is part of the Puget Sound Independent school association and is a non-profit school and the other is a full for profit school with limited to no college placement history in the area.

It looks more like you picked for location vs school fit. Not sure why these 2 vs others - I would start there vs a chance me - just my opinion.
