Belmont or Oxford/Emory

I really have no idea which to choose between Oxford College of Emory or Belmont University. I’m wanting to go into International Business.

One thing, I want everyone to keep in mind that I am wanting to consider all four years of college. This means I would be attending Emory (Atlanta) full time my Junior and Senior year if I choose Oxford. I really like both schools but I would like some input.

Thanks

Cost differences? Emory’s b-school is extremely well connected to Atlanta area businesses, and plenty of other companies. I doubt that’s the case at Belmont.

Would you be comfortable at a school where a huge percent of students aren’t Christian or religious? Because at Oxford, while there are plenty of very religious students, it’s a much more secular school than Belmont. If you come to Oxford, you will talk with peoples of all faiths or lack there of. That can be a good or bad thing depending on what you want out of college. At Oxford you’ll be exposed to more perspectives than you thought existed, but they likely won’t wish to do Bible study or other things you might find at a Christian college, unless you specifically join a Christian club.

As you probably know, Oxford is a small school, and with that comes pros and cons. All of your classes will be less than 30 people, but it also means that some courses needed to get into Goizueta will only be offered once a year, so you need to plan your schedule accordingly. It also means a very strong community, but if you have a problem with someone, it’s harder to get away from them.

If you’re into the outdoors, Oxford is a clear winner as there are miles and miles of excellent trails just outside of campus. While Oxford is very close to downtown Covington (7 min bike ride, and Oxford provides bikes), it’s not in an urban or suburban area like Belmont is. It’s not hard to get into Atlanta, but it generally requires riding the shuttle to the Main campus and then taking Atlanta’s mass transit system to get into the downtown.
