Hello
My son is very interested in the songwriting program in the Curb College of business at Belmont U in Nashville.
He is in fact so interested he doesn’t want to apply anywhere else if he finds out soon!
Just wanted to start a conversation with other families who may be looking at Belmont for this fall.
We hope he finds out in the next 2 weeks so that we can adjust our game plan if needed.

My son took Belmont off his list after he found out all the professors need to be Christian.

Don’t quote me, but I’m fairly certain that is no longer the case. I’ll try to find the post or article I read and edit to add it here.

(I noted it as I was surprised that requirement hung around so long as the kids I know at Belmont are not at all religious.)

They finally changed it June of this year (and my son did apply for fall 23 admit). Still may matter to some though as not sure how quick it will change.

Yes Rabbi Mark Schiftan from a local synagogue was the first I believe. But a lot of the hiring is meant for law and med school, not undergrad. They got a new President so things are changing albeit are they really ?

I’d be concerned with this religious aspect but OP mentioned nothing of it so it may not be an issue for them.

We really liked Belmont when we visited in March. We are Catholic, so I asked questions of the music school dean and of our student tour guide to gage if my not-so-spiritual son could thrive there. I left thinking yes. There are all kinds of students at Belmont. And if the school’s style isn’t right for some, they shouldn’t apply. That applies to all schools actually.

I think my son’s application to the university is complete. He got an email saying it was, however, something for the music school is still outstanding on his portal checklist.

Awesome! My son’s application is complete. We haven’t heard yet however. We are not religious but loved Nashville (especially for the music but also otherwise!) and the school itself seemed to have a caring atmosphere. Our son is kind, a little bit of a late bloomer so hoping this atmosphere will be a great place to grow. I think espousing service and caring for others is always a good thing whether or not it is the context of organized religion. Hopefully they will both find out soon! Best of luck!

Are decisions supposed to start rolling out? My S25 uploaded the random items they said he needed for the music school. So I think his app was already complete, but now it’s definitely complete.

Also, @anitha1231 you said your son was interested in Songwriting. My son is Commercial Music, percussion.

We just got a decision this morning- D25 has been accepted :tada:

She really wants the songwriting program but hasn’t submitted the audition yet. If not, she may consider Belmont for audio engineering tech.
