There’s rumors that Michigan is eventually going to convert to a 4 year program, but I don’t know if that’s a fact. I do know for certain though that Michigan doesn’t plan to increase class size too much more.
I certainly hope so.
That will remove the craziness from freshman year, when so much of the class is just there for the opportunity to apply for Ross. With a four-year Ross program, it will improve LSA because everyone in LSA will be there because they WANT to be in LSA. As it is now, about a third of LSA students sophomore and above are there only because they didn’t get into Ross. Also, a four-year Ross program will make it MUCH better for the economics department and for students who REALLY want to major in economics. As it is now, economics majors have the stigma of being Ross rejects—even if they never even applied to Ross and always intended to major in economics for the discipline it is.
