Obviously the biggest perk of getting Preferred Admission is not having to worry about getting into Ross during freshman year, but I have seen a lot of posts on CC talking about other “amazing” perks and how well PA’s are apparently treated, without much specificity. Are there really any other benefits?
I have also heard that Ross PA’s tend to get placed in housing on central campus more often than other students. Can anyone support or deny this?
At least in regards to housing, I am fairly certain there is no special treatment of Ross PA’s. I knew plenty of Ross PA’s who were placed into Bursley/Northwood.
Pros:
Get Ross Academic Advisor freshman year to help you map out possible minors/dual majors
Can pay for Ross Membership (WAYYYY better than the ccrb gym)
Take BCOM 250 freshman year to get it out of the way (frees up a little time winter semester of soph year)
Don’t have to worry about applying and can relax freshman year!
Cons:
You have to attend a monthly meeting on Sunday afternoons. I just came back from my last one of the year, and they said that since they are increased in the class size at Ross, they plan to accept more PAs…but now the monthly PA meeting will be a biweekly Wednesday class for the next year!
^ I don’t agree. They need to keep the majority of spots open for those applying after freshman year. Else that avenues acceptance chances will decrease that much quicker.
@wayneandgarth . They plan to increase both. The idea is that because the overall class size is increasing, they can now increase the PA class. This way the proportion of PAs to regular admits stays the same, but more PAs and more regular admits can be admitted. This provides the benefit of attracting more business inclined students who have offers from other elite universities and were deciding between them and Ross PA, as well as the benefit of giving out more acceptances to the Michigan freshmen.
I know 2 pre-admits. They list it on their resume and say it makes the difference for recruiters when flipping through hundreds of Ross resumes for interviews.
@wolverine19 - the class size is increasing for this coming fall from 580 to 600 (so I recently read). Anything published on future class size? Ross is not going to want to be another Kelley with class sizes of some 1400.
