So I’ve got a few questions. As a Regents Chancellors scholar, we had a faculty scholar, and were supposed to meet them at some reception thing. I was a freshman last year, and I remember to this day, totally missing that reception, I think I had class. My faculty sponsor is, as the title suggests, Dr. Lumen. I felt so bad about not showing up, that I kept procrastinating emailing him for, literally, one year (I still feel terrible, because I imagine, he would have been there, and I would not, and on top of that, I havent contacted him in one year). So I sent him an email recently, and said, 1) sorry, 2) Is there any time we can meet so I could get to know you, and maybe ask you a few questions? He had a very terse, one line response: "I can meet with you at 12 noon 5/29. Please confirm. "

So my question is, for anyone who has had him, is this normal, or his he boiling with rage inside? Also, is he a chill guy? I was planning on asking if he needed any help with research (his page said he’s doing cancer/plant research, which seems interesting enough) and a year or two down the line, asking him for a letter of rec, with the hope that I would get to know him via research and it would count as a Professor LOR for med school.

Basically: is this a good idea? Or should I find a different professor under which to do research/get an LOR? Also, is it possible to change our Faculty Sponsors?

As you can tell, I’m pretty nervous about meeting him, particulary since I’ve procrastinated for one entire year, and I handled the situation like a jackass - so thanks for your help.
