<p>How many applicants will Berkeley waitlist? Does anyone have an estimate?</p>

<p>Yay! The number is so small that the statistical probability of being waitlisted (as opposed to accepted) is almost negligible. (That is assuming that the database does include waitlisted candidates.)</p>
<p>“This was the first year UC used waiting lists, and it proved to be a strategy that varied greatly from one campus to another. Riverside and Berkeley each offered about 200 students the option to join their waiting lists. Irvine, San Diego and Santa Cruz each offered roughly 1,000 students the choice. And about 2,400 students were offered a spot on Santa Barbara’s waiting list.”</p>

<p>@Mickjagger, so the only plausible explanation to this is the x\extra admits in both freshman class and transfers… but extra 3K?</p>
<p>is this list like final and legit? i mean i have good ECs, 1540/2270 sats, full IB, awards etc. and i am not in there. gah sorry for the rant :(</p>
<p>@hugedilemma, you should try to look if your name is in the list in the coming days. If it is added, then it can mean that: 1.) you were accepted/waitlisted 2.) the list is for all applicants. Either way, it would be helpful if you, an “above-average” (I think) applicant would update us if your name does pop-up.</p>
<p>i’m an international applicant from South East Asia as well:) what are your stats like? and congrats on being accepted!</p>
<p>wheee nvmmmm~~</p>
<p>hugedilemma. i feel ya. all my friends (who are international applicants) with solid test scores n gpas found nothing on the list</p>
<p>@hugedilemma, nice to see a fellow SE Asian here! hahaha. Well, I’m not really sure if that’s the acceptances but thanks. </p>
<p>My stats are low for UCB, but I got into UCLA though if that means anything:</p>
<p>1940 SAT - 700 CR, 630 Math, 610 Writing
SAT II- 800 WH, 740 Bio-E, 750 Lit
GPA UW - 3.83 (don’t know UC GPA, but I think it’s higher cause our school has a funky grading system)
I would say my ECs are great (just what I think) and my essay was focused on my passion for politics (I declared poli sci as my major)</p>
<p>Your stats by the way are so high, I wouldn’t think that you’ll not be accepted if someone like me would be. good luck!</p>
<p>btw, I’m a US Citizen(Asian/Filipino decent). just living abroad.</p>
<p>at Fromcalwith white, what major did you apply as ?</p>
<p>oh that your a US citizen makes a diff</p>
<p>me? I applied as a political science major</p>
<p>thanks for the encouragement guys:) all the best!</p>
<p>should of applied as a L&S cs mjaor… instead of taking a shot at Berkeley’s strong EECS…
all my friends who didn’t find their names on the list applied as engineeiring majors…</p>
<p>From Cal website: Types of Students
The CalNet Directory currently supports the following student “roles”:
Admitted but not Registered
Continuing Student
Graduate
Limited
New Student
Re-admitted Student
Undergraduate
Visitor
Account creation - When do records enter LDAP?
For regular undergraduate and graduate students, the CalNet team pulls data for students into LDAP when students are admitted and before they have returned their Statement of Intent to register (SIR). These records are held in a “pre-SIR” container in LDAP until students have returned the Statement of Intent to Register. For more information, please visit the PreSIR OU page.
Students digital identity (CalNet ID and passphrase) are added to CalNet (Kerberos) as soon as they are admitted. This gives them access to BearFacts and related sites necessary to complete the initial registration processes. In order to register for classes, create an email account, apply for orientation and housing, etc., students must also be added to the Directory.
Fall undergraduate admits are added to the Directory within one hour after the student has submitted the Statement of Intent to Register and has paid the initial fees.
Fall Program for Freshman students are added in April.
Spring undergraduate admits are added in September or October with the same conditions.
Graduate students are added in May.
Summer students are added in May, once they’ve been admitted to Summer school.</p>
<p>Looks like people on that list are admits…</p>
