Berkeley is ranked # 2 in the world

here you go:

[ARWU 2010](http://www.arwu.org/ARWU2010.jsp)

Actually, they have different methodologies. ARWU is based more on academics than US world news, which cares a lot about student to teacher ratios and **** like that. But anyways the 2010 us new report should be coming out next week.

When did we get lower than UCLA?

UC Berkeley fell last year in US news because of Student to teacher ratios. US news is changing that criterion this year, so we should see that change. Even last year though we were ranked higher than UCLA…I think this is what you are referring to:

[National Universities Rankings - Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/national-universities-rankings)

agree with OP

us news is a joke… all kinds of ■■■■■■■■ criteria

The ARWU method says nothing about the school…just the faculty. >.>

US News’ international ranking using different methodology than their US-only ranking. Their US-only ranking system has us above UCLA but for whatever reason the international one doesn’t

ARWU is ridiculous . UCSD over upenn? lmao

THE-QS is the other popular international university ranking agency alongside ARWU. USNWR is not popular for international rankings.

[THE - QS World University Rankings 2009 - top universities | Top Universities](http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2009/results)

anyone know why we are ranked 39 in overall university rankings but top 5 in all of the category rankings, even though both are ranked internationally?
just curious

^ that’s y US news is odd.

Your mom is ranked #39 in the world while my mom is #2.

Or that’s how this thread sounds like to me.

The one published by USNews was copied from THE-QS.

Because we don’t have that many international students compared to some of the other privates. Dumb reason, but that’s it.

UpMagic is full of win.

The ARWU says nothing about student experience. 40% of it is based on papers published in various journals, and another 40% of it is based on the research quality of the faculty (Nobel Prizes, Fields Medals, highly cited researchers).

i never trust ARWU rankings … UCSD over Upenn, NYU and John Hopkins!? and UC Davis and Irvine over Carnegie Mellon, Brown, USC, and Rice!? LMAO.
