I’ll be entering Cal in the fall, and I’d like to get some books from the library. What do I need to do so that I can check out books from the library?

I already have a Cal1 ID card, but when I try to log in to the library website with my CalNet ID and password, nothing happens (it simply returns me to the log in screen).

You need your Cal 1 Card and that’s it. Try going in person. That might just be a website malfunction, or maybe they haven’t registered your passphrase yet (doesn’t seem likely to me). Try logging onto another Berkeley website that requires the passphrase and see if that works.

I’m pretty sure they’ve registered my passphrase because it’s been working for everything else since May. I guess I might have to go there and try it in person.

By the way, one of the textbooks I’m interested in getting says it’s on “7 day reserve” (the full line is "compu/d 1 (copy 1) on 7 day reserve; Not checked out. "). What does this mean?

What “library website” are you talking about? You should not need to log onto Pathfinder/Melvyl/GLADIS to find books.

When it says something it is “X day reserve” it means that it can be checked out for 7 days. You can, of course, renew it continually and hope nobody recalls it. To renew you use GLADIS:

Actually, that’s not true. I moved to Berkeley before I entered in the Fall, but I couldn’t check out books because I hadn’t paid my registration fees/fall tuition yet.
