i’m a valedictorian from my highschool, and i cant decide which college to go to! i live in vacaville, which is about 45 min from berkeley, but i want to go somewhere new away from home. i want to go somewhere with nice weather like so cal. i don’t really know what i want to be yet, so i just put business or undeclared business on all my apps. my mom wants me to go to ucsb, but it’s like the #1 party school. berkeley seems sort of boring, and the ucsd campus wasn’t great, but the city seems nice. someone help me! i need to decide ASAP for scholarships!!

Looks like you’re leaning towards UCSB…so pick it. It’s a gorgeous/great school and if you’re not into the party scene, you don’t have to be…

go to berkeley. its the better choice for business. it seems like your scared by the whole party school thing at ucsb.

heyy i’m kinda in the same boat as you ( live in bay area and choosing between ucsb, ucsd, ucd, and usc) berkeley will be cutthroat academically and there is no college town feel. isla vista in sb is a crazy place to live… you can walk around at 2am and find plenty of people out to find fun. la jolla (sd) is more like a retired rich people town. supposedly the social life is lacking but i’ve never attended school there so i can’t say. berkeley will get you the most prestigious degree, but if you can’t see yourself spending 4 years there, then go somewhere else. you basically need to figure out what you want… most prestigous degree (berk), most fun (sb) or good school in pretty town, but less social scene (sd). good luck!

How come no one has Santa Cruz as an option?

UCSD sounds like a commuter school.

Berkeley is definitely a lot of fun, it’s actually a fantastic balance of academics and social life, although the Bus Ad major is somewhat demanding.

SB is fun, but it isn’t as diverse, there are only a couple of scenes on campus. Your mileage may vary…
