I was wondering what advice anyone could give me as a Spring admit to Berkeley? I also got into UCLA. Berkeley is my dream school but I don't want to wait until the spring, soo...

Because I'll only have 1.5 years there, it feels so short.

If you do nothing in Fall 2009, you will still get a 9th semester for free I believe, meaning you will get a 2 years (Spring 10, Fall 10, Spring 11, Fall 11)

Really?! I did not know that.

also: the housing troubles me, because it says that it's not guaranteed for spring admits. >__<

pretty much everyone who applies for it gets it

Ok I have another question,
what are the chances of me getting into the Economics major if I declare it in the spring?!! Cause I read somewhere else that Berkeley doesn't accept into the major like the other UCs do.

If you applied for the Economics major and got into Cal, pretty much you're in the major. All you have to do is average a B- your first semester in the Econ pre-req classes(Which might be difficult depending on which professors you ger).

Every student at Cal is guaranteed X semesters, depending on their class level. Freshmen (spring or fall) are guaranteed 8 semesters. Transfers (spring or fall) are guaranteed 4 semesters. Or you could be a spring transfer like me and stay for 5 anyway. ;)

You will most likely be offered housing, but you have as much a chance as anyone to get stuck somewhere you don't want. Both times I applied for housing, I was offered a triple in the Units. No thanks.

If you really didn't feel like waiting until the spring, you could take University Extension courses. A number of them are actually offered on campus and are Cal courses; the only difference is who you pay. They will "transfer," naturally, too. If you want to save the money (I don't think UNEX has financial aid, per se), Berkeley Community College is also here.

And sadly I know nothing about Econ so can't answer anything there.

The extension program is only for freshman. Not transfers.

No, FPF is only for freshmen. Berkeley Extension is open to the public. You wouldn't be part of an official program if you did what I suggested above, just be taking classes.

Oah yea, thats what I ment.

Sorry to bump this, but I am also a transfer spring admit. Does berkeley expect me to finish my degree in 3 semesters, as opposed to 4? Is that why they admitted me for Spring?

Or will I have to do a summer semester to graduate on time?

If you do nothing in Fall 2009, you will still get a 9th semester for free I believe, meaning you will get a 2 years (Spring 10, Fall 10, Spring 11, Fall 11)

All admits are guaranteed the appropriate semesters. All freshmen, whether spring or fall, get 8 semesters guaranteed. All transfers, whether spring or fall, get 4 semesters guaranteed.

So no, they don't expect you to finish by spring of the following year, though you're welcome to do so if you're able.
