Berkeley vs USC Spring Admit

So I got accepted to Berkeley and USC, but only as a spring term admit for USC. I had my heart set out for USC because I feel like Berkeley may be too cutthroat and competitive for me. However, I don’t want to start college late and miss out on such an important college starting experience, so do you think I should just enroll in Berkeley? I mean, I like Berkeley and maybe those allegations of Berkeley’s intense competition are just rumors. Berkeley is also much more reputed and my parents are definitely pushed me towards Berkeley. What do you think?

(Don’t know if this will matter, but I’m also leaning towards premed and apparently premed at Berkeley is ehhh).

Does cost matter to you? USC barely offers financial aid to spring admits.

Competition is really bad in Berkeley, USC is more fun + better contacts as well.

There is no reduction on aid for spring admits at USC. USC offers the same financial aid to both Fall and Spring admits. Spring admits simply get 1/2 of their award the first year as they only attend 1/2 the year and therefore have 1/2 the expenses. USC financial aid is calculated using the CSS/Profile, the FAFSA and tax information and considers assets the FAFSA does not, including home equity. Therefore the amount you may be expected to contribute may differ from your FAFSA EFC.

I have no idea, but is it possible to accept both? ANd then start at Berkeley in the fall, and if you are happy there stay, and if not withdraw and attend USC in the spring?

Check out the Spring admit URL that came in your admission package. My son is also a spring admit and may do study abroad at the American University in Paris.
