I don’t know how credible the NYP is, but maybe some of you know.

I saw that too – interesting. The whole Madoff saga seems Shakespearian to me: the amoral striving father, his suspect parents, his striving and possibliy deluded-on-purpose wife, the two children who never seemed like they measured up, the lies, deceptions and hubris, the cancer that runs through the family… weird weird stuff.

Bernie is a lying scumbag. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that he is popping sugar pills and viatmins to make everyone think that he is in deep health trouble. Where are his IV lines?

Maybe he’s hoping for a compassionate release a la the Lockerbie bomber…

wishful thinking (on the part of some - not me)

[Madoff Doesn?t Have Cancer, Prison Authorities Say (Update1) - Bloomberg.com](<a href=“Bloomberg Politics - Bloomberg”>Bloomberg Politics - Bloomberg)

Seems the cancer story is bogus… never fear, lots more Madoff drama to come… some speculate more indictments are coming, possibly among his family.

Yes, like others here, I would not be surprised if this were just another manipulation effort by Bernie the Grand Manipulator of people & $$. Sorry for the false lead, if it’s false…

When entering prison, and during the year before, he looked far too good to be currently taking, today, 20 pills/day – & in any case, for terminal pancreatic cancer, pill-popping wouldn’t cut it, as some other poster noted. He’d be focused on coping with pain, not jollying around with prison gangs. (JMO, relative to the pancreatic cancer cases I’ve known, & those I’ve read about)

However, it will be interesting to see what happens if he needs a liver transplant.

Many of you have probably heard this already, but I thought I would post for those who have not.

I cannot imagine that Mr. Madoff wouldn’t feel a tremendous sense of responsibility for this. Of course his son was an adult and responsible for his own actions, but…still.

I cannot imagine that Mr. Madoff wouldn’t feel a tremendous sense of responsibility for this.

Some people do not feel the same sort of responsibility that others do.

^^^^That’s certainly been the case with him so far. Of course, when things hit home, sometimes they can be enlightened, just a bit. Who knows.

Sociopaths are not capable of true remorse for anyone save themselves.

I do feel bad for poor Mrs. Madoff. No one should have to live with the suicide of a child, even if that child was 46 years old.

Echo what Toblin said. I doubt that a sociopath such as Madoff the elder thought much about the impact of his crimes upon his family and thus, the passing of his son likely won’t leave much of an emotional impact upon the nefarious father. Incidentally, one NY TV news report indicated that Mark Madoff was estranged from his mother, as Mark believed that she was overly sympathetic to Madoff the elder once the crimes were revealed.

The whole saga is sad. This is the third time suicide has been chosen.

VeryHappy: Apparently, Mark Madoff described his mother as an ‘enabler’. I don’t think they were on good terms.

Still.

10 char

I am so sorry for this man and his family.

I got this info from a news article:His wife tried to change her and her childrens last names last Feb. She was also in Disneyworld with their 4 yr old when he hung himself. He apparently left her an email for someone to check on their toddler who was in the house with him. Their dog was also in the house.

He had to be totally despondent and not thnking clearly at all to have done this in the manner he did. You almost wonder if it was a homicide.

Anyway the poor guy had his entire life ripped apart by this. Everything he knew to be real was a lie. I can’t imagine his pain. My prayers go out to those who loved him.

Given his e-mail to his wife about the toddler, that doesn’t seem very likely. I doubt a murderer would care about making sure the kid was checked on.

^^maybe, maybe not. Someone angry enough at losing their life savings might have some compassion for an innocent baby. Maybe. At least I want to believe that…

anyone could have sent the e mail from his computer
