You should definitely buy the Real ACT Prep Guide, known as the “red book.” It is written by the makers of the actual ACT and includes 3 previously given practice tests.

Some may recommend Barron’s ACT prep book, but I found that the tests were significantly more difficult than the actual ACT.

The best way to study for the ACT is to take practice tests. If you run out of tests in PR and the Red Book, the Kaplan prep guide includes a few more.

I would get Barron’s “English,Reading, and Writing Workbook”. I was like you; I was doing great in math but could never do well on reading. This book helped me in reading more than any other book I have read.

Lol colleges look more critically upon verbal skills according to all the books. So i suggest applying the Xiggi method to SAT and ACT reading passages.
